Research Technician I- Lyons Lab

Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory located on Long Island, New York, is presently seeking a Research Technician for an immediate position in preclinical imaging.

The laboratory’s preclinical imaging shared resource, a key component of the CSHL Cancer Center, broadly collaborates with other investigators here to better understand fundamental aspects of in vivo tumor biology, to discover new cancer treatments and diagnostics, and rapidly translate those findings to the clinic.

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will ideally have substantial experience working with mice, including handling, dosing (tail vein and i.p. injection), and necropsy. Additional experience with any non-invasive imaging modality, especially ultrasound or optical imaging, would be highly beneficial. Meticulous record-keeping and familiarity with common analytical computer programs are also required. Responsibilities will include the operation of state-of-the-art preclinical imaging instruments and image analysis software. Also, receiving, handling and administering radiolabeled probes for imaging. The successful candidate will also possess excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills. Further, a willingness to work effectively and productively in a team-oriented environment with the ability to show initiative and maintain a strong sense of integrity and confidentiality. 

Position Requirements

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline is required.
Experience: Experience in mammalian cell culture and mouse handling is essential. Work will involve the use of mouse models of disease, and willingness to handle animals is therefore essential. Comprehensive skills in data handling and excellent record keeping are equally important.
Skills: Must be curious, highly motivated, organized, and team oriented.

The salary range or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
