Clinical Dentist

The Oregon Tech Dental Clinic is seeking candidates for a Clinical or Faculty Dentist. Whether you are in your early career and looking to expand your potential, or, are at the end of your career and want to slow down a bit; this position can be customized to fit. This is a flexible position that can provide a range of services based on the chosen candidate’s interests. This position offers a variety of opportunities between clinical care and academia.

Option 1: Part-time faculty Dentist (.50-.75 FTE position)

As a part-time faculty member supporting the dental hygiene program and students during patient care; reviewing radiographs with students and providing patient referrals; performing limited exams for patients in the DH clinic; working with faculty on department objectives and community outreach; helping to facilitate supply management and insurance claims.


Option 2: Full-time Clinical Dentist (12 month Non-tenure faculty position)

As a full-time dentist in the Oregon Tech Dental Clinic, you will provide general dentistry services to community and campus patients, serve as the Dental Director for the auxiliary dental clinic business, collaborate with clinical partners and CCO’s and area on-call services, supervise clinical support staff, and work to help integrate enrichment opportunities for Oregon Tech students in our program. Other potential opportunities may include community outreach events, didactic teaching, and curriculum involvement as we expand our offerings in the areas of dental sciences in southern Oregon.

In the high desert of southern Oregon, Klamath has four seasons of beauty, and is within an hour’s drive of Medford, OR with extensive shopping and entertainment opportunities. The area offers a bounty of outdoor recreation like Crater Lake National Park, the Pacific Crest Trail, and the Lava Beds National Monument, as well as numerous mountain lakes and hiking trails nearby.


Departmental Information: 

The Dental Hygiene Department provides a collaborative learning environment in state-of-the-art facilities, utilizing digital media for radiographs and clinical technologies and 100% electronic health records. The department has created a unique collaboration between an academic allied health program, and a full-service dental clinic auxiliary that serves the needs of the Klamath Basin and provides enrichment opportunities for dental hygiene students. The employed dentist has a combination role as a faculty member and a dental provider.

The Dental Hygiene program is renowned for our robust community outreach courses, international travel to third world countries to provide dental care and for our exceptionally prepared graduates. Oregon Tech offers excellent mentorship opportunities for both new and experienced faculty through Excellence in Teaching sponsored by Oregon Tech’s Commission on College Teaching (CCT). The Dental Hygiene program embraces opportunities for inter-professional collaboration between disciplines. Qualification Requirements:

  • Current Oregon State Dental License or receive one within 90 days of employment
  • Current CPR/BLS as required by state licensure
  • Possess ability to perform all duties and rights as mandated for a dentist by the Oregon Dental Practice Act
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a valid DEA number, and personal malpractice insurance
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience working in higher education or in a dental/dental hygiene program
  • Prior experience in business management or entrepreneurship/marketing
  • Experience with managed care and diverse populations
  • Hold an Oregon Class 1 permit for conscious sedation
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
