VP for Enrollment Management and Student Success

Job Summary:

The Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success serves as the University’s chief enrollment and retention officer responsible for leading initiatives across the full student lifecycle, from recruitment through graduation and beyond, while optimizing University resources. The position leads the development and execution of Miami’s strategic enrollment and student success plan, which includes recruitment, admission, student registration, institutional aid, student accounts, and other retention initiatives that directly support academic success, student satisfaction, and increase student success post-graduation.

The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success includes 150 staff members and nine direct reports to the Vice President. The Vice President manages an operating budget of $14 million and financial aid budget of approximately $300 million.

 Duties/Physical Demands:

Lead the University's strategic undergraduate and graduate enrollment planning and execution efforts. Advise trustees, the President, the Provost, CFO, deans, and the broader University community about key issues and trade-offs related to student access, affordability, market position, net tuition revenue, quality, and composition and diversity of the enrolling class.

Lead a best practice and research-based student success organization that provides leadership, oversight, and coordination of student initiatives across the University that result in increased student satisfaction, persistence, and graduation rates. Enhance and expand internship and employment opportunities pre- and post-graduation.

Collaborate with leaders across campus to develop and implement the University's strategic recruitment, academic retention, and career success efforts for diverse students. Contribute to and support the University's ongoing efforts to become a fully inclusive and diverse community.

Ensure high-quality, student-centered services that are inclusive, efficient, effective, compliant, and advance student success and support the broader University community.

Represent the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success at the President's Executive Cabinet (PEC) and Council of Academic Deans (COAD), in addition to serving as the co-chair for the University's Student Success Committee.

Participate in strategic planning for Miami University and participate as an active member of Miami's leadership/administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

A record of substantial, successful leadership within higher education.

An earned bachelors’ degree.

A career progression that has prepared them for a position of this scope, complexity, and scale.

Communication and collaboration: the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with the many constituencies whose contributions are required for the success of the University, including but not limited to, faculty, administrators, staff, students, Board members, alumni, parents, and community partners.

Leadership: the ability to set high standards for staff and willingness to communicate those standards with exceptional clarity.

Creativity: creativity, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to bring new ideas to fruition in a timely fashion.

Personal qualities: high integrity and superb judgment and an ability to exemplify fairness, empathy, and responsiveness; credibility and trustworthiness, with a capacity to set high standards and empower others; and an ability to lead a community with compassion and sensitivity through a time of significant change.

Advanced degree: an advanced degree is valued.
