Event Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Family Director, the Event Coordinator will coordinate the booking and management of parties and facilities at the Geyer Family YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Recruits, trains, and develops non-exempt and part time party staff and volunteers.
  • Organizes and schedules party offerings.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of staff and participation in party rentals.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with members and non members, promotes the other programs of the Y.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Establishes new party activities and expands program within the community in accordance with the Association and branch strategic plans.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants.
  • Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
  • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations and follow mandated abuse reporting procedures.
  • Ensure members, volunteers and vendors are properly signed in and signed out, ensure only authorized employees, members, volunteers, and vendors are allowed in the facility.
  • Assists in branch fund raising activities and special events.
  • Responds to all participant and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
  • Exhibit personal and professional behavior in a manner consistent with the best interest of the Association, so as not to bring discredit to the Association.
  • Perform such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Cooperate; work effectively and congenially with all YMCA staff members, volunteers, and members of the Association.

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Prior experience in event planning.
  • Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills
  • Prior experience working with children preferred
  • Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR  get certified within 90 days of employment.
  • Clearance from Criminal Background check.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity.  The work is performed primarily indoors, and may require occasional travel. He/she must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

HOURLY PAY RATE:  $19.50

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Saturday: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Sunday: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
