Trainer for Staff Learning and Development

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Trainer for Staff Learning & Development will support BPHC employees by supporting the development of and hosting professional and personal development opportunities. The Trainer for Staff Learning & Development will also work to help BPHC become an antiracist organization by meeting or exceeding the standards set by the BPHC Anti-Racism Policy.

DUTIES

  • Assists in leading efforts to implementing the BPHC's vision for Racial Justice and Health Equity in Boston by working closely with the Office of Racial Equity and Community Engagement to advance the BPHC's Anti-Racism policy and Core Values.
  • Manage activities and reports on the Learning Management System (Cornerstone) and provide support with video editing and production including social media platforms. learning management systems.
  • Support the research, development, documentation, and implementation of online and in-person curricula, discussion guides, presentations, storyboards, participant materials and other professional development strategies to build staff competencies and facilitate sustainable culture change around professional development and performance improvement at the BPHC.
  • Support activities related to hosting the BPHC New Hire Orientation sessions (including co-hosting sessions as needed) to familiarize new employees with our policies, procedures, and culture.
  • Prepare and support cohort learning communities by serving as a peer resource, managing logistics and coordinating meetings and activities, and modeling collaboration and community.
  • Work in a confidential capacity with the Management and Leadership staff. Meet regularly with the Workforce Development Program Manager regarding all aspects of program operations, including but not limited to matters pertaining to program staff and other confidential matters.
  • Local travel required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Passionate commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.
  • High school degree plus 5 related years' experience or
    • Bachelor's plus 3 years related experience or
    • Master's plus 1-year related experience.
  • Experience in or familiarity with governmental public health organizations preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development. Knowledge and experience with adult learning theory. Group workshop facilitation and training skills. Experience public speaking using strong communication and active listening skills. Experience in effective in person and virtual facilitation.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies required. Experience designing and delivering online learning preferred, including working with a Learning Management System.
  • Experience designing and implementing workforce development programs, racial or social justice training programs or other related activities.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people that vary according to race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, mental/physical ability, class, or other dimensions of diversity.
  • Familiarity with Boston, its history, neighborhoods, and customs, including the experiences of Black, Indigenous and People of Color in Boston.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated formal or informal social justice advocacy experience and/or community organizing/mobilization experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience designing and delivering online learning preferred, including working with a Learning Management System, designing and producing synchronous learning events (e.g. Adobe Connect, Zoom, Teams), and designing other types of learning activities (e.g. Storyline, interactive video, or other technologies).
  • Knowledge of HR policies, employment laws and regulations.
  • Bilingual capacity.
  • Knowledge of online learning tools.
