BI Administrator

This position is located, onsite in Troy, Ohio.  There is no relocation assistance provided. 

The BI Database Administrator is responsible for supporting and maintaining SQL Server databases including data warehouse databases. They will design, develop, and deliver database solutions including ETL. Position requires ability to administer all functions of a Microsoft SQL Server including index analysis for performance optimization, backup / restore strategies, security, troubleshooting job failures and alerts, and optimizing ETL processes.  This position will interact and work extensively within the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack including the SQL Server Engine, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS & PowerBI.   This position does not provide sponsorship.

Responsibilities

 

  • BI Database Administrator will provide enterprise-wide data warehouse expertise with emphasis on data design, access, usage, security, and quality of information.
  • Responsible for developing, testing, improving, and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively
  • Monitor SQL Server for performance bottlenecks and recommend solutions
  • Diagnose and resolve data warehouse performance issues.
  • Set and maintain database standards.
  • Manage database access and develop processes for optimizing database security.
  • Assist other developers, analysts, and designers in implementation of database solutions.
  • Work with Business Intelligence Developer to create models within the data warehouse and/or changes to existing data stores.
  • Ability to understand and implement Microsoft Database Solutions from within Azure DevOps source control.
  • Identify data discrepancies and data quality issues, and work to ensure data consistency and integrity.
  • The candidate will also regularly interact with the users ranging from the end user to management team to understand, document and communicate their needs, perform requirements analysis, develop, and deliver Data Models, reports, Business Intelligence, and data transformation solutions.

This position requires analytical and problem-solving aptitude along with a wide range of technical development, design and multitasking skills. 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of Database Administrator experience including 2+ years in business intelligence and data warehousing environments
  • 3 + years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server & Microsoft BI Suite like SSIS
  • Strong TSQL scripting abilities
  • Experience with cloud services
  • Experience in evaluating execution plans and index analysis
  • Experience in SQL Server security.
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
  • Exceptional organizational skills to prioritize work and ability to balance maintenance and project work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.

Desired Education/Experience

 

  • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
  • Experience in SSAS, SSRS, Power BI, Data Lake, Dataverse, Azure SQL, SQL Sync, Data factory, and Synapse Analytics
  • Understanding and knowledge in data analytics and reporting
