Marketing Intern (Paid)

Position Summary:

The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) is a non-profit social service agency serving Milwaukee at 6 sites through 18 unique service areas including: fitness, aquatics, early childhood education, day & overnight camps, arts & culture, and an emergency food pantry.

The JCC Marketing Department operates as an in-house marketing agency to support all programs, manage member and community audiences, and oversee the agency’s primary brand and sub-brands. Working under the supervision of the Marketing Director, the Marketing Intern will support the work of the team (Digital Specialist, Communications Specialist, and Design Specialist) to gain experience in development and curation of print and digital content, which may include photo, video, writing, graphic design, and others based on the specific skills and interests of the Internship candidate. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a specific area of focus seeking to expand their understanding of how marketing teams work collaboratively or a marketing generalist seeking exposure to a variety of experiences.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Marketing Intern will learn:

  1. What makes compelling content
  2. How content can tell a brand story
  3. How to create customer-focused content
  4. How to plan for content delivery
  5. How to work collaboratively to achieve team goals

Marketing Intern will:

  • Participate in marketing team meetings and content planning sessions
  • Have an opportunity to shadow each Specialist during the course of their tenure
  • Interact with JCC program directors, members, and guests, as needed.
  • Participate in cross-departmental JCC Intern programs.
  • Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements (KSAs)

 

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms
  • Organized
  • Creative
  • Able to work independently
  • Willing to travel throughout the JCC’s service areas
  • Comfortable in the presence of both youth and adults while capturing content

 

Education and/or Experience

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have High School diploma (or equivalent) and have completed at least 4 semesters of college coursework
  • Be pursuing a major in marketing, communications, digital media, or similar field
  • Have an interest in learning about marketing for non-profit organizations

Physical Demands

The Marketing Intern must be able to sit at a computer or laptop for a period of time.

Work Environment

The work environment will vary and can include office space, outdoor playgrounds, outdoor and indoor aquatics facilities, wooded campsites, and early childhood facilities. This job has both indoor and outdoor work environments.
