Swiss Lathe CNC Apprentice

The Program is based on 18 months of instructor-led in precision machining and CNC operations. The program will provide a combination of hands-on experience in the shop and theoretical knowledge in a classroom setting, which includes programming, tooling, QC and other aspects of precision manufacturing.

The proposed timeline consists of the following milestones:

  1. In the initial three months, the objective is to achieve proficiency in tasks like the installation of tools, setting up and adjusting Collets, Guide Bushings, and Bar Feeders, understanding GD&T, and utilizing inspection equipment.
  2. Within six months, the goal is to acquire the ability to set up recurring jobs, operate machinery like Bridgeport and manual lathe, and become familiar with Tb-Deco software.
  3. By the end of the first year, the aim is to gain the competence to develop programs for new projects.
  4. As we reach the 18-month mark, the focus will be on honing programming skills and achieving the competency to independently initiate and successfully complete straightforward projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist and learn to develop CNC Programs using TB_Deco software.
  • Assist and learn to set up CNC machines.
  • Assist and learn to develop CNC machining process for new projects.
  • Maintain effectiveness and efficiency of the production schedule.
  • Assist and learn to selecting cutting tools and work-holding tools for new projects.
  • Learn to develop work instructions for CNC machine operators.
  • Learn the latest cutting techniques and lean methodology. 
  • Troubleshoot minor machine errors, program errors. 
  • Maintain quality and safety control standards.
  • Effectively work with other departments to achieve the common goal.
  • Maintains a positive and respective attitude, cooperates with co-workers, management, internal and external customers, as applicable (Core values).

Reports to:

  •  Engineering Manager.

 

 

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee is exposed to household and industrial chemicals and if improperly used may cause serious injury.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced deadline orientated environment.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Employee is advised to always wear safety glasses and safety shoes while out on production floor, but not required.

 

 

Communication Skills:

All Employees are required to be able to speak and understand English language enough to understand the written and verbal instructions provided by management, instructors or other coworkers. Maintain and display a positive attitude and behavior in the workplace.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic-moderate skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Geometry.
  • Algebra.
