Wraparound Coordinator

WRAPAROUND COORDINATOR

Job Goals
The Wraparound Coordinator will support the New Bedford Public Schools to engage families and community agencies in order to drive student and family success.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
•Align and reinforce district messaging, utilizing best practice wrap strategies and tools such as, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to engage assigned schools effectively engage key stakeholders.
• Develop meaningful relationships with key stakeholders, such as community partners, school staff, peers, vendors and families.
•The Wraparound Coordinator will support assigned schools by understanding and building relationships with resources and partners within the city of New Bedford, such as early intervention organizations, K-12 industry partners, institutions of higher education, non-profit groups, governmental agencies and volunteer groups that add value to the school community and meet the diverse needs of its families.
•The Coordinator will also ensure that the external resources are aligned with the School’s Improvement Plan and district strategic initiatives.
•Utilize technology such as Google and Microsoft suite and district wide data collection tools to effectively and efficiently be able to respond to requests and provide data informed supports and strategies.
•Understand MTSS to collaborate with wraparound department peers to assign and provide quality services to referrals/assigned cases.
•Collaborate with wraparound peers to plan and attend family engagement events.
•Bilingual – Spanish preferred


Student Support Services:
a. Implement district Strategic Plan Goals around climate and culture systems that build systems for student support and social emotional learning initiatives at the school level.
b. Identify tiered systems of student support.
c. Support and lead work regarding the schools improvement plan goals for social emotional learning and family engagement within the plan.
d. Establish wraparound systems for "at-risk" students.
e. Lead and support the collection and use of SEL data trends, risk indicators including attendance, discipline, and other behavioral data.
f. Support school wide capacity building to support de-escalation and crisis intervention services as an integrated system within the school.
g. Use the MTSS framework to support at-risk students in working with partners, families, administration, school support staff, and teachers ensuring equitable wraparound supports for all students.

Family and Engagement:
a. Cultivates and maintains high levels of trust and communication with city-wide and assigned parent groups.
b. Ensures that assigned school staff understand wraparound resources and effective family engagement strategies that support student achievement
c. Aligns and/or develops strategies and technical assistance to engage families in support of their child's learning and achievement
d. Maintains and builds relationships with external family engagement stakeholders to drive collaboration and project success
e. Identifies appropriate metrics for measuring outcomes of and inputs to effective family engagement programs and initiatives
f. Supports the Wraparound Manager and the professional learning communities of principals and teachers committed to improving the effectiveness of their engagement strategies
g. Documents and communicates with key stakeholders such as assigned school administration and supplemental services related to regarding student or family engagement progress.
h. Develops strategy for creating a uniform standards for a welcoming school climate that values parents in all their diversity as resources to drive student achievement and school success

Community Engagement:
a. Collaborates and leverages the talents of the experts in the field to develop state-of-the-art strategies, recommendations, and practices
b. Keeps informed about innovations and developments and research in the field
c. Manages the distribution of donated school supplies and other resources across the for assigned schools
d. Provides technical assistance to the assigned schools on establishing and strengthening high quality partnerships
e. Identifies specific partners to help the assigned schools meet targeted goals
f. Ensures the continuous flow and exchange of information within the school district

Climate and Culture Building
a. Work to build capacity among administrators and school support staff
b. Provide de-escalation and crisis intervention referrals to facilitate strong relationships between the community and assigned schools
c. Ensure that policies and practices enable staff members and students to interact effectively in a culturally diverse environment in which students’ backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected
d. Engage staff as a learning community
e. Engage families and community members as partners within the school community
f. Attends relevant external meetings to stay informed about latest research and trends; represents the perspective and vision of NBPS and presents specific findings and project results
g. Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school boards policies and the professional standards.
h. Supports and carries out the Superintendent’s mission to transform New Bedford Public Schools

•REQUIREMENTS
1.Bachelor's degree required
2.Master's degree or coursework; specific experience in school leadership/administration and program management strongly preferred.
3. Previous exposure to or experience in the K-12 education sector a plus. Previous exposure to or experience in adult learning and/or professional development projects a plus.
4. leadership experience in training, system change, community organizing or development in a non-profit, government or business setting strongly preferred
5.Previous experience in family engagement that drives student achievement strategies
6.Previous experience in working with at-risk students, school based support systems, social-emotional learning and current methodology and practices within school settings.
7.Thorough knowledge of types of methods of engaging parent/community in school activities
8.Demonstrated experience and success in maintaining and expanding organizational relationships

Terms of Employment: In accordance with the NBSSU contract
