We are recruiting for two regional transit coordinator positions, one in Salem and one in Portland! A day in the life:

  • Facilitate collaborative partnerships between all customer transit agencies and collaborative partners.
  • Coordinate with local and regional transportation agencies to advocate and develop plans to increase regional public transportation access.
  • Develop strategies to gain public input on transit plans.
  • Analyze, evaluate and negotiate with funding authorities and grant applicants to establish plans, objectives and requirements.
  • Help improve services and actively participate in the development and improvement of statewide transit network.
  • Evaluate agency agreements for compliance or potential improvements to program services.
  • Assist in developing plans based on the needs of program recipients—Including investigating available fund sources and recommending appropriate applications.
  • Monitor project status within the region and recommend revisions to grant agreements.
  • Evaluate and recommend program priorities and strategies to achieve state program goals.
  • Work is primarily performed in a typical office environment with hybrid work options —occasional in state and out of state travel may be required.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification;

OR

A bachelor's degree in business or public administration, behavioral or social sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; AND four years experience coordinating or administering a program.

 

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience interpreting and clarifying statutes, regulations, policies and financial records around public transportation.
  • Able to navigate federal and state public transportation program management procedures. 
  • Experience or knowledge with blending equity considerations in decision making and value of improving access to public transportation. 
  • Experience building strong working relationships with key internal and external partners. 
  • Experience with conflict resolutions. 
  • Knowledge or experience with grant writing, grant processes and procedures and utilizing other funding sources.
