PK-K Partnership Specialist Limited Term

EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Support teachers in pre-k and kindergarten programs for high quality, coherent, and aligned instruction. 
  • Provide a continuum of support to schools, families, and children during key transitions in early education. 
  • Organize and facilitate school and system partnerships. Work with key organizations and community partners, as well as local pre-K programs to develop resources and experiences designed to service the needs of children and families prior to kindergarten.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS  

Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:  

  1. Education: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, either elementary or secondary depending on the position and in the related subject area. 

AND 

  1. Five (5) years of successful classroom teaching or coaching/facilitation experience. Candidates must demonstrate evidence of leadership and involvement in the district initiatives, the grade level or the content area. 

AND  

  1. Qualification into the Teacher Leadership Pool is required. If the qualified candidate selected is not currently in the Teacher Leadership Pool, they must qualify into the Teacher Leadership Pool within three years. 
     

Knowledge of: The Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS); professional learning standards; professional learning communities; essential standards; in-depth knowledge instructional and pedagogical practices; current research on best practices for improving achievement and the integration of these strategies in the classroom; 21st Century Learning Competencies; adult learning theory; formative assessment processes; technical skills to support implementation of educational software  

Skill at:  

  • Planning and modelling effective classroom learning experiences for students;  
  • Group facilitation and interpersonal communication both oral and written;  
  • The ability to design and implement effective professional development experiences in individual and group settings; 
  • Communication and collaborating with groups and individuals; 
  • Evaluating, assessing and revising programs;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships throughout the District;
  • Ability to innovate and conceptualize new programs; and  
  • Excellent time management skills 
     

Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid Nevada teaching certificate.
