Georgetown University Teacher Residency Program

Georgetown University’s Teacher Residency Program is a 1-year, Teaching Residency program where successful candidates work full time as a Resident Co-Teacher while earning a Master of Arts and eligibility for a teacher license in either English as a Second Language or Secondary Science. Our program prepares educators who have interdisciplinary skills and focus on the assets that children bring to school, rather than focus on deficits that undermine learning. We place the education of the whole learner at the center. Whether it is building relationships with students, honing your instructional practice, gaining pedagogical content knowledge in your licensure area, generating insights into classroom dynamics, developing cultural competence to bridge worlds of experience, or understanding how data can inform your craft, the goal is to ensure that you have the instructional skills and professional dispositions to spark and spur learning for every student.

As part of Georgetown University’s Master of Arts in Educational Transformation, a cohort-based program that prepares graduates to teach, engage policy, and advocate for learners in Pre-K-12 educational systems,  Georgetown’s Teacher Residency Program is based on the commitment to education as a tool for social justice and asset-based approaches to student learning, while simultaneously working to advance the knowledge needed to build better schools and learning experiences for all children. Join us in transforming education for all learners.
