FAME Fellow

The Teacher's Academy is a program by FAME which seeks to address the lack of African American educators in the independent school space. The Teachers’ Academy will give aspiring teachers the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience and professional development at the FAME Academy. FAME Fellows will benefit from an intense curriculum and 3-year career mentorship designed by a cohort of educational advisors to address the lack of Black educators in independent school education. Fame's. biggest goal when recruiting students to this is to reclaim the nobility of attracting and developing aspiring Black educators to become leaders in schools.

During the summer students will:

  • Join us in Pittsburgh for a summer of teaching and building community
  • 8-week summer program
  • Stipend $3000 - $5000
  • Provided Housing for out-of town candidates
  • In-Classroom Teaching Experience
  • Be provided professional development during the summer and through the school year
  • Matched with a personal Mentor
  • The opportunity to travel to Education Related conferences
