Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education teaching fellowship

The Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education (PACE) offers a tuition-free graduate degree in education to anyone with a bachelor's degree in any subject area. PACE is a two-year graduate teaching program serving Catholic schools in the western United States. Applicants must have a bachelors degree in any discipline, not just education degrees.

PACE program participants teach full-time in K-12 Catholic schools, live together in intentional communities, and apply their master's studies in their classrooms.

  • PACE pays all rent/housing during those two years
  • PACE pays all tuition for Master's degree program; candidates do not accrue any student debt
  • PACErs earn a “simple living stipend” of $11,500 for the school years; a low salary, but tuition and rent are covered.
  • PACE schools provide health benefits as they would for any full-time employee
  • Two summers studying on campus at the University of Portland
  • Two school years teaching in your community city

Our teachers are currently serving in 38 Catholic schools across 7 states.

  • Candidates indicate their preferred placement location during the application process
  • Every effort is made to find teaching placements that match candidates' education background, desired grade level, and desired location

If your educational and career goals include a future in education, the Pacific Alliance for Catholic Education program can help you achieve them.

PACE applicants often ask, "What makes for an exceptional PACE candidate?" or "What are you looking for when reviewing applications?"

While there is no perfect answer to these questions, we seek candidates that exhibit the following qualities:

  • Aspire to serve and teach in a Catholic school for two years
  • Desire to live in a small, intentional, faith community with other PACE teachers
  • Authentic willingness to actively engage in your this journey and support others in theirs
