 Student Internship, Corporate Relations & Engagement — (Miami)

The Americas Society and Council of the Americas (AS/COA) is seeking a student intern for  the Miami office to support corporate relations with the influx of engagement opportunities developed throughout the year. Such intern will work closely with the Manager and Associate of AS/COA Miami.

During their tenure, the intern will be guided in understanding the importance of stakeholder relations by focusing on the relationship with the corporate members based in Miami and throughout the region. Such support will provide the intern with a unique exposure to the policy dialogue in Miami among diverse corporate executives, community patrons, and government leaders (whether domestic or Latin American). This engagement is possible as the office services the needs of our members through our diverse initiatives such as the private roundtables; the COA Symposium and BRAVO Business Awards Series; CFO Series; Women Hemispheric Network (WHN); Young Professional of the Americas (YPA); and others. Lastly, the intern will also develop skills in working with cloud computing (i.e., Fonteva) as it is an essential asset in the organization.
 

Principal responsibilities:

  • Support Manager on any corporate membership and external community outreach efforts.
  • Lead efforts on audience development by confirming delegates to in-person programming – whether it is a public or private, by-invitation only programs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of records in Fonteva (Salesforce) database. Such data is important in generating reports, business analysis, and profiles of corporate members (including prospects).
  • Researching and identifying key trends in policy and business sectors in the Americas
  • Perform market research on current and prospective corporate sponsors and members.
  • Assist with providing logistical support.
     

Time requirement:

  • 20-25 hours per week; minimum 3-month commitment.
  • Hybrid setting - minimum 3 days a week in the office. The rest will be remote (when necessary)
  • Applicants must obtain student credit to qualify (this is unpaid)
  • Flexibility to cover programs that take place early morning or evening
     

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at least 2 years of college (an undergraduate) or graduate program.
  • Strong written and spoken in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of Portuguese is helpful.
  • Exceptional research skills
  • Internet research skills and familiarity with MS Office programs, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, detail-oriented, and time-management skills.
  • Initiative-taking self-starter who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously and easily switch between varying projects with competence and a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce (Fonteva), Canva, and/or other CRM platforms is desirable
