Summer 2024 Intern - Event Planner (Chicago, IL)

ALSAC’s Program offers an immersive experience where interns experience our culture, contribute to organization’s goals through projects, and build relationships with team members and senior leadership. During the summer internship, interns are assigned to a day-to-day manager where they are with provided meaningful assignments. After 12 weeks, interns will truly understand what it's like to be a part of the ALSAC/St.Jude. ALSAC/St.Jude was selected as the 100 best internship programs in the U.S. in 2022 by WayUp and Yello.

ALSAC Summer Intern Innovation Project: Throughout the internship, interns will have a chance to connect with innovators from across ALSAC and learn the art of Design Thinking. Interns will work in teams, be creative, and participate sessions to help prepare them to present their projects to ALSAC’s CEO and members of our Executive Leadership Team.  

Start Date: May 20, 2024 

End Date: August 9, 2024

Hours: 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday) 

Pay Rate: Based on work location

Requirements:

A passion for our mission! 

Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

Must be comfortable with Zoom and Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point. 

Actively participate in the Summer Intern Innovation Project through cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders and your assigned project. 

Ability to work in a team environment but also work strong independently. 

Ability to be organized and detailed to balance several projects simultaneously. 

Must be able to maintain confidentiality. 

Must be 18 years of age or older. 

 

Specific Internship Description and Preferred Skills:

Our experiential team creates and delivers shared experiences designed to acquire and cultivate donors across Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. This role, located in our Chicago office,  focuses on supporting programs and events that fund the mission of St. Jude including golf tournaments, gala events and walk/run events.   

 

Responsibilities include:  

Provide pre-event support for St. Jude Chicago Golf Classic, St. Jude Dream Chicago, and St. Jude Walk/Run Chicago.  This will include auction and raffle support, restaurant partner management, volunteer management and communication/PR support.   

Assist with event execution and post-event wrap-up.  This will include on-site attendance, event data reconciliation, auction package fulfillment, thank you correspondence, etc. 

Help with stewardship and cultivation efforts for partners throughout Northern Illinois/Wisconsin area – including collegiate, corporate, and individual donors. 

Provide support for expanding multicultural engagement across the Chicago market, including potential event support, partnership prospecting, and community outreach. 

 

Majors preferred: Communications, public relations, marketing, business management 

Skills preferred: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite; Strong interpersonal communications skills
