QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a valid certification as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Hold a valid license as a LABA (Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst) from Massachusetts Allied Mental Health Division of Professional Licensure.
  • Master's degree
  • Safety-Care Certified or willing to be trained
  • Experience in an Urban setting preferred
  • Strong district lens regarding EL, curriculum, and equity
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders

JOB DETAILS

The purpose of this position is to provide behavioral consultation and to collaborate with school staff in developing classroom organization, scheduling, and behavior management. To provide training in the use of basic ABA principles (i.e.; discrete trials, positive reinforcement, data collection etc.).  Complete assessments (FBA, VB-MAPP etc.)  to assist in the development of behavioral intervention plans, materials, behavioral objectives, data collection procedures, and monitor data collection.  

 

 

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboration and consultation with staff/ administration
  • Consultation for IEP goals/objectives
  • Training of 1:1’s, paraprofessionals, teachers, and specialists on behavior plans/ recommendations, de-escalation skills, and understanding behaviors.
  • DTT training as needed.
  • Program book development
  • Behavior plan / Recommendation write ups
  • Collect, graph, and analyze data
  • Creating Visuals (Token boards etc.)
  • Direct observations of students and write up observation
  • FBA’s,VB-MAPP Assessments, ABLLS Assessments, SISS, Preference Assessments - *consent required*
  • Provide crisis management techniques when a student’s behavior becomes unsafe to themselves or others
  • Participate in clinical and team meetings to discuss priority students and responsibilities of each team member
  • Attending IEP meetings, team meetings, and clinical meetings
  • Provide direct service or consult when a student has behavior specialist support on their IEP grid
  • Assisting with the setting up of PBIS data systems (depending on the school)
  • Creating communication systems for school-home communication.
  • Environmental modifications to classrooms as needed.
  • Remaining up to date with Safety-Care certification/procedures
