Legal Intern, Schumpeter Project on Competition Policy (Paid)

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a Washington, DC-based think tank, is seeking a legal intern to conduct research, analysis, and commentary on U.S. antitrust law and innovation policy for the spring of 2024, starting on or after January 15, 2024. The ideal applicant should be a law student or recent law graduate with a demonstrated interest in U.S. antitrust law, competition policy, innovation and digital markets, as well as have exceptional research, writing, and analytical abilities. The position is available on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours a week. Ideally, the applicant will be located in Washington, DC.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Support ITIF’s Schumpeter Project on Competition Policy, including in the preparation of its monthly newsletter and events.
  • Write or help draft policy articles and op-eds.
  • Conduct research on U.S. antitrust law and competition policy, especially issues impacting digital markets, innovation, and dynamic industries. 
  • Identify and track relevant developments in U.S. antitrust law and competition policy.
  • Assist with policy advocacy (e.g., comments to foreign competition agencies).

Qualifications:

  • A law student or recent law graduate.
  • Demonstrated interest in U.S. antitrust law, competition policy, innovation, and digital markets.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Highly proactive and flexible, with an ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
