Teaching Fellow

School Year: 2024-2025

Compensation: $45,000-$50,000

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

of a Catalyst Teaching Fellow

Serve as guide and role model for scholars:

  • Help build and uphold an environment for learning that invites and excites scholar learning
  • Live and model Catalyst’s core values with scholars and their families
  • Empower scholars to access their voices and leadership
  • Support the day-to -day happenings of the school
  • Manage student behavior according to common Catalyst practices

Commit to your professional learning and growth

  • Collaborate with educators and scholars to facilitate Education and Special Education once we have scholars in the building
  • Collaborate with educators and scholars to facilitate learning in the building for the children of our educators
  • Authentically engage in Catalyst’s culture of adult learning and professional development
  • Invest in personal professional development by demonstrating a willingness to be coached during weekly coaching and feedback sessions once scholars are in the building on a regular basis

Scholar Support

  • Provide direct support to scholars with exceptional learning needs under the direction of a coach, the Lead Teacher, the Director of Exceptional Learning, and the principal
  • Implement behavioral and instructional methodologies to address the needs of scholars demonstrating learning or behavioral challenges 
  • Accommodate scholars’ specific needs through implementation of specialized learning activities and linguistically appropriate goals and objectives
  • Provide instructional support in a variety of settings, including distance learning, general education classrooms and other settings as appropriate
  • Assist in the preparation and modification of specialized instructional materials related to individual scholar needs
  • Perform supervisory duties while scholars are at play, on field trips, and in class

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, PASSION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

of a Catalyst Teaching Fellow

  • Belief in and alignment with Catalyst’s mission, core values and educational model is non-negotiable
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Meet one or more of the following requirements:
  • Passed ETS ParaPro exam 
  • Hold Associate’s Degree 
  • Have 72 or more earned credits above the 100 level from an accredited university or college 
  • Have proof of completion of a Washington State Paraprofessional Apprenticeship
  • Successful background check
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. We provide all faculty a full benefits package and opportunities for professional growth. Every Teaching Fellow has access to:
