We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic Research Assistant with strong focus and attention to detail to join a group of researchers at the Institute for Global Tobacco Control, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The Research Assistant will to provide a range of technical support for capacity-building projects and related program activities based in low- and middle-income countries, aiming to reduce tobacco-caused death and disease.

 

Specific Duties &Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of customized capacity-building materials (e.g., educational resources, training agenda) to facilitate understanding of key leadership skills.
  • Assist with planning for in-person and online training sessions.
  • Assist with facilitation of on-line and in-person training and workshops.
  • Provide capacity-building teams with overall administrative and logistical support. This includes an in-person training and coordinating training venue, accommodation, and flights for participants (as well as other travel requirements) plus meals, transportation, a mentoring and internship program.
  • Assist with participants’ recruitment and review of applications.
  • Assist with program evaluation, including data coding, data analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain and organize program files.
  • Effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.
  • Participate in team and one-on-one meetings.
  • Assist with program reporting including collating and organizing data, preparing tables, figures, and references.
  • Assist with content updates of IGTC’s online courses, as needed, such as content update and review schedule, contacting subject matter experts, and ensuring content adheres to current best practices for user experience and accessibility.
  • Support gathering information for dissemination materials.
  • Conduct literature searches and reviews.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.



Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Experience in training in leadership, political advocacy, movement building, or civic engagement.
  • Experience facilitating trainings and preparing educational materials.
  • Experience using statistical software and/or qualitative data analysis software.
  • Tobacco control-related knowledge and experience.
  • Fluent in Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Bahasa Indonesia, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Russian, or Ukrainian.
