Sustainability Coordinator

 

The Zilkha Center for Environmental Initiatives is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity as an entry-level Sustainability Coordinator. This is a two-year term position expected to begin in the late spring of 2024 and has a possibility of being extended for an additional year.  The Coordinator will focus on implementing the Zilkha Center’s student programming and managing communications and outreach especially targeting the student population. This position will work with existing student groups and plan and execute new student-focused programming.  The Coordinator will implement components of the sustainability strategic plan in partnership with other campus stakeholders and the Zilkha Center’s Director and Deputy Director beginning with a focus on improving the college’s measurement and reporting of sustainability metrics.  The Coordinator will also participate in other aspects of the department, but in a secondary role, to gain experience and knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate academic year and summer internship programming.
  • Plan and execute EcoReps, our academic year learning/project program
  • Supervise some additional academic year interns and some of our summer interns
  • Implement Root, our First Year Orientation Program, in partnership with staff in the Davis Center (Williams’ multicultural center), that focuses on sustainability, social identity, and environmental justice
  • Manage the Zilkha Center’s newsletter, weekly listserv, and social media, both the existing and emerging platforms, for communication and outreach purposes
  • Manage and lead the ’66 Environmental Center building tours & kitchen trainings
  • Facilitate student engagement and education through various methods including tabling in the student center
  • Integrate a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens into all facets of the job, including in student engagement and communications work

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with one or more of the following: environmental issues, social justice, activism, student programming, sustainable food and food justice, energy, climate change, communication and/or outreach.  Some evening and weekend hours will be required.  A driver’s license is not required but preferred.

 

Application review will begin on January 17, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. Pay range is from $48,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience.
