Psych & Related Majors Summer 2024 Full-Time Job/Internship Opportunity: Summer Camp Therapeutic Facilitator

Does making a difference in children's lives sound rewarding to you?  We are looking for empathetic, energetic and attentive college students to join our team as Therapeutic Facilitators at our summer camp for kids ages 4-9 to support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of special needs campers! The Social Enrichment Center and the Jewish Community Center partnered in 2022 to create an inclusive environment for campers enrolled in a diverse and unique summer camp program. Job Title: Summer Camp Therapeutic Facilitator

 

Date/Time of Position:  June 24, 2024 to August 16, 2024

9 am - 4 pm: Monday-Friday   ( + 1-2 orientations/trainings in weeks prior to start date, dates/times TBD)

 

Location: Kaiserman JCC

Wynnewood, PA 19096
 

Pay: $18-20/hr depending on credentials and experience. Pay will be determined at the time of the interview.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist campers through therapeutic practices like social skills exercises, sensory integration activities, and coping techniques
  • Assist campers through their camp day
  • Reinforce demands, prompts, and expectations from the lead therapist
  • Ensure group activities continue while the lead therapist steps away to provide individualized support
  • Facilitate camp like activities adding modifications to the activities as needed
  • Implement individualized behavior support plans
  • Participate in all activities to model expectations
  • Build relationships with campers and provide encouragement and emotional support
  • Modify activities to suit campers' individual abilities and therapeutic goals
  • Document campers' progress daily
  • Ensure campers are supervised at all times and assist with personal care when needed
     

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience working with children (preferably children with special needs)
  • Able to join campers in the pool during swim time
  • Physical ability to participate in camp activities and supervise campers
  • Patient, empathetic, energetic and creative
  • Clear background checks including Child Abuse, Criminal History, FBI Fingerprinting, and Mandated Reporter Certification
  • Mandatory orientation
  • Mandatory weekly supervision

 

*** Please note: This position is NEW and DIFFERENT from the Social Enrichment Center's on-site internship. This opportunity is PAID, far more hands-on, and a larger commitment on intern's parts.
