Intern Overview
ClearBridge Investments is offering an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students looking to gain experience in the Asset Management industry. Our 10-week summer internship program will provide exposure to and enhancement of your skills and knowledge of the equity investment business. Our interns gain hands-on working experience as well as the opportunity to participate in our development program which includes: learning about the various ClearBridge products and functions as well as our fundamental research process. The interns also get to participate in a group project and other social and volunteer events.

Position Overview
ClearBridge Investments is seeking an intern to assist our Quantitative Research team develop and integrate quantitative models and tools with our fundamental research, portfolio management and risk processes. Our research process focuses on identifying statistically significant capital market anomalies, applying financial and economic theory to understand and model them, and implementing them across all aspects of the investment decision-making process.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Apply asset pricing theory and quantitative techniques to identify and model anomalies in observed asset returns
- Develop and maintain quantitative models by programmatically back-testing factors and parsing data
- Actively participate in research projects through idea generation, data preparation, rigorous analysis and actionable recommendations
Ideal Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline related to Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High proficiency in all Microsoft applications, especially Excel
- Agile learner; can quickly come up to speed with the business
- Innovative thinker; can take a fresh look on current processes and identify new and creative ways to challenge the status quo
- Ability to multi-task and organize to meet deadlines
- Proactive and resourceful, with both a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- A passion for learning about financial markets
- Advanced programming skills and experience are required – Python and Matlab are strongly preferred
- Experience with capital markets theory and common asset pricing models
- Solid understanding of statistical concepts and their applications in portfolio construction and asset pricing
The intern salary range is targeted for $25 to $35 hourly. Pay offered may vary depending on function, location, experience, year in school.
