Textiles Product Development Intern - Summer 2024

You will be able to take ownership on projects as well as get a feel for day to day work in your role. In addition to the project work, Medline will provide you with learning, networking, and social opportunities throughout the summer through intern specific trainings, lunch & learns with leadership, and fun events.

The Textiles Product Development Intern will support and coordinate product development activities between divisional stakeholders (Product Management, Purchasing, Quality, etc.) and vendor partners. You could be working on projects related to developing product requirements, evaluating product performance, and overseeing development & production timelines.

Possible projects could include:

·        Develop product requirements, performance attributes, and quality specifications.  Communicate to manufacturer through drawings and technical specs.

·        Oversee product development timelines and communicate to divisional stakeholders and Vendors/Sourcing through utilization of Project Management software.

·        Evaluate prototypes for usability, manufacturability, performance, and quality using analysis techniques such as visual evaluation, tactile textile evaluation, and basic testing techniques.

·        Create testing plans, submit samples to labs, and analyze performance test results.

·        Execute activities required in order to approve a fabric or finished product such as using the spectrophotometer for color analysis, creating testing plans, submitting testing to the lab, and evaluating test results.

·        Help improve product quality and performance by working between internal quality team and manufacturing partners.

·        Create and update product technical specifications due to product improvements, evolving requirements, and product changes due to Divisional needs.

·        Utilize design software to create product drawings and communicate high-level ideas to factories.

 

Qualifications:

·        Textile related majors

·        Junior standing with 3.0 minimum GPA preferred

·        Detail oriented with superior organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills

·        Motivated self-starter

·        Experience with design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
