Marketing and Communications Summer Intern

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Riddell seeks a passionate individual to join the Marketing & Communications (MarCom) team as our summer intern focused on Marketing and Events. This small but mighty in-house team services stakeholders across the business, including Executives, all key business functions, and supports external clients. You will be an integral part of the team, learning about different types of projects from conception through final execution. As a contributor to the team, this position will include internal/external/executive communications activities, digital/social media projects, events/promotions staffing, assistance with related tasks as assigned by other departments, and administrative responsibilities for the team and office. Our intern needs to be ready to learn, organized, detail-oriented, and interested in the sports industry, particularly football. Position on-site Des Plaines, IL. Local candidates encouraged. May-August.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned)

• Assist with operational and logistical planning for summer events, tradeshows, football camps/clinics, and photo/video shoots
• Assist with on-site execution of various events as needed, including representing Riddell at partner events
• Interact with Riddell partners, such as USA Football, NFL clubs and the WNFC
• Manage event elements such as shipping, equipment ordering, asset movement, inventory, organization of storage room, travel needs, and event teardown/setup
• Play a vital role in photo & video shoots, including leading equipment inventory, organization, and fitting
• Support project management process and digital organization
• Support general MarCom activities, such as partnership activations and catalog execution
• Opportunity to engage and learn in other MarCom areas as desired such as social media, digital marketing, communications, media relations, and more

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• College student or recent graduate with a major in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field required
• Previous job experience and/or internship in communications, public relations, journalism, sports management, or related field preferred 
• Proficiency in the use of PC software tools for communications, presentations and reports, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) and Adobe Creative Suite preferred
• Use of social media and understanding of monitoring these platforms along with traditional media
• Willing to travel as necessary, including nights and weekends
• Ability to lift/push/pull 50 lbs. on a regular basis and stand/walk for long periods of time
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and is comfortable in virtual & in-person office environment
