Branding and Merchandising Internship

Part-time and full-time positions available; flexible scheduling

WaterFire Providence, an arts nonprofit, seeks an enthusiastic intern to join our team and help engage with our supporters. The mission of WaterFire is to revitalize Providence and creatively transform our community. Interns will be involved in the lighting events in Downtown Providence and programming, exhibitions, and events at the WaterFire Arts Center (WFAC) in the Valley neighborhood. 

 

Overview:  

Merchandise fundraising is a creative and innovative way to engage with our supporters, generate revenue, and increase brand awareness. The Merchandise Fundraising (Retail) intern will work to sell, create, and promote branded products and other merchandise. Working with the Retail Coordinator you will determine appropriate display and merchandising of products, manage inventory, develop new merchandise, plan and create merchandise marketing campaigns, and measure and evaluate success.


 

Responsibilities: 
The Merchandise Fundraising (Retail) intern will provide support to the store at the WaterFire Arts Center, the online store (store.waterfire.org), and onsite sales and information areas at lighting events. 

  • Prepare store/onsite pop-ups and Square POS for each day/event (Working shifts in the store at the WFAC as well as working WaterFire lightings from setup to strike.)
  • Take part in inventory management
  • Update the online store, ongoing basis
  • Assist in visual merchandising
  • Plan and launch merchandise marketing campaigns leveraging social media and utilizing email marketing
  • Collect and organize information from artists/vendors
  • Supervise retail staff and volunteers
  • Assist in filing purchase orders, tracking price adjustments, and SKU set-up and maintenance
  • Measure campaign effectiveness by creating reports and analysis as needed
  • Fulfill online orders
  • With direction from the Retail Coordinator, conduct market research, track trends and themes to assist with product selection
  • Help generate new innovative merchandise and research and connect with new vendors
  • Coordinate photo shoots as needed
  • Contribute to brand awareness strategy


 

Qualifications: 

  • Have a curious mindset
  • Excellent knowledge of the Google Workspace
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must have experience generating basic web content
  • Must have a genuine interest in art, culture and community
  • Must be organized
  • Has an understanding and interest branding and marketing as well as measuring and evaluating success
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
