Project Coordinator FGP-SCP

Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is a non-profit organization formed by the Native American Tribes of Wisconsin.  We serve all WI tribes by providing administration of grant-funded programs either directly or with sub grants. Project Coordinator FGP/SCP

 

Position Summary:

The Project Coordinator for the Foster Grandparents and the Senior Companion (FGP/SCP) Programs provides pre-service and in-service training and guidance for elder volunteers that care for frail elders and serve as mentors to youth in their communities as well as assisting tribal staff with recruitment, orientation, placement and coordination of all volunteer activities as well as volunteer development.  Serves as liaison between Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council (GLITC) Elders Program Director and tribal work sites.  Daily attendance is an essential duty of this position.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Travel to tribal in-service meetings, at least 80 meetings per year.
  • Assist tribal staff at participating tribal sites in recruiting, orienting, and placing volunteers at approved tribes within the GLITC service area.
  • Assist tribal staff in coordinating volunteer activities, including volunteer development, monthly in-service training and work site placement in accordance with program work plans.
  • Maintain in-kind documentation, volunteer records and presentation evaluations from in-service meetings. 
  • Set-up monthly in-service training sessions and conferences for all FGP/SCP volunteers. Coordinate pre-service orientation for new volunteers, with site supervisor. 
  • Arrange for speakers or presentations with the help of site supervisors or other tribal staff. 
  • Keeps in close contact with site supervisors to determine volunteer needs, requests, or issues.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of volunteers, including follow-through on Information Agreements and Care Plans and other required volunteer forms. 
  • Provide documentation and material to Program Assistant for further clerical duties as needed.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as liaison between tribal work sites and Program Director in the capacity of volunteer issues, data collection and reporting.
  • Complete tribal in-kind reports from meetings.
  • Assure that all services are delivered in a culturally competent manner.
  • Engage in networking activities to ensure awareness of services available.
  • Participates on various committees outside and within the organization as deemed necessary and appropriate to the position and supervisor. 
  • Attend all training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
  • Attend technical conferences and seminars to stay current on technological advances.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

 

This is a fulltime exempt position working Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.  This position is located in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin.  This is not a remote position.  This position, based on skills and experience, has a salary of $40,000 - $42,000 annually with benefits including Annual Leave, Personal Leave and Holiday Pay; Health, Dental, Life & AD&D, STD and LTD Insurance, FSA and 401(k) Retirement Plan. This position requires frequent travel for the purposes of attending community and program related activities. Drug and background screening is required before hire

 

Qualifications: 

Required: Associate degree in health care, human service, general business administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.  Minimum of one year experience in human services field required. Preferred: Experience with a Native American Tribal organization and/or not-for-profit agency preferred.  Individual must possess: excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor and appearance; problem solving skills; ability to manage time effectively; self-motivation skills; work effectively under pressure; ability to build positive work relationships with internal and external customers; ability to interact professionally with a wide variety of people.  Individual must be able to follow routine instructions and apply logic in the solving of various computer related issues. Must be able to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide).  Must possess valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation with adequate insurance.
