POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION
The Department Intern - Information Technology - Procurement is an entry level technical position that works in the department’s administration to support technology purchasing for the Department. Work involves completing purchase requests, keeping purchasing records, and maintaining inventory of licenses, subscriptions, and assets for the Department. The incumbent will assist the Technology Procurement Specialist with day-to-day customer issues, service requests, and recordkeeping. Work is performed under the direction of the IT Services Administrator. The position is intended to provide a professional opportunity to work in information technology purchasing, in limited duration, in a municipal government setting.
This is a temporary position with a duration of employment generally up to three (3) years. City benefits are provided for the duration of the appointment.
Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:
- Two (2) years of college level course work in Computer Information Systems, Business, Accounting, or related field
- Experience in the information technology or purchasing industries
- Experience with spreadsheets, accounting, budgets
- Ability to pass the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check
Preferred:
- Any experience in purchasing, especially technology equipment
- Knowledge of knowledge of licensing, subscription, and asset management
- Experience in Purchase Order and invoice management
- Intermediate experience in Excel Spreadsheets, PO creation
- Microsoft or generic technical certifications
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Background checks will include employment references and criminal history, and when applicable, credit check, driver’s license record, and education verification
- Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background
- Drug screen
- Must be legally entitled to work in the United States
