Analyst Intern (Management Consulting & M&A)

EFCG Management Consulting & M&A Analyst Internship                

Roles and Responsibilities

The EFCG Analyst Intern role provides a unique opportunity to gain experience and exposure to both management consulting and investment banking (mergers & acquisitions) skill sets. Interns will be working with Analysts, Associates and Vice Presidents to support strategic projects for clients (e.g. strategic planning, post-merger integration, talent development, sustainability advisory, etc.) as well as working on middle market sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions. 

EFCG Analyst Interns will be taking on similar responsibilities as Analysts at EFCG and will help prepare Interns to be full-time Analysts in either management consulting or investment banking, with a goal for Interns to be considered for full-time roles at EFCG.

Ideal candidates will be individuals who are adaptable and are excited to learn foundational skill sets, work in small groups, and be part of a very committed and client-centric team. 

The Environmental Financial Consulting Group (EFCG) works at the intersection at finance and consulting, specifically focused on the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industries. The firm is based out of Denver, CO, New York City, NY, and Boston, MA (although all team members are fully remote). The firm is led by three managing partners with experience across the financial and consulting sectors.

Analyst Intern Responsibilities

  • Work with Senior Associates, Vice Presidents and Managing Partners to benchmark and understand key financial metrics for clients, support valuation work and support traditional management consulting projects (e.g., strategic planning, org structure)
  • Work across EFCG’s Management Consulting offerings, including Financial & Strategic Advisory, Technology Strategy, Talent Strategy, and Sustainability Strategy
  • Work across EFCG’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) offerings, including sourcing, identifying targets and working with clients to facilitate a transaction
  • Gain early client exposure and an understanding of key client needs
  • Conduct research on industry trends, new firms, and business development targets

 

Skills / Capabilities Needed

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree (finance, management or accounting are a plus)
  • Current Junior or expected to graduate Spring 2025
  • Strong drive and ability to self-direct; will have a lot of autonomy and ownership early on with the support of an experienced team
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint (experience with financial modeling a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Comfort with presenting to clients, or enthusiasm to learn
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Upbeat, “can-do” attitude
