ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST - TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGIST

Who We Are:

The Intelligent Systems Division develops automated solutions for commercial and government clients in multiple domains including transportation (traffic management, connected automated vehicle), manufacturing robotics, medical prognostics, and communication standards.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Assist project team in planning & executing future software/hardware deployments.
  • Solve complex system issues, perform system testing and maintenance.
  • Roles will include software maintenance, server administration, backup administration, database administration, and system administration for custom software and hardware support.
  • Lead, oversee, and plan future software deployments.
  • Will be responsible for documentation and written reporting of work.
  • Analysis and design of networks.
  • Must be comfortable in an Enterprise Server & Network Environment in order to provide local & remote support to custom software developed for clients through direct client interaction.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Apply your software debugging skills & ability to solve software and network issues to satisfy client needs.
  • Work autonomously with direct client interaction for solving client challenges and proposing solutions, interfacing with the software development team when necessary to provide a resolution.
  • Track and manage client action items, ensuring clients are kept up to date on status.
  • Lead a small support team of 1-3 staff. Lead team meetings and be willing to assist junior staff when solving complex problems; strategize response to customer needs within the team.
  • Solve problems with computer systems, including analyzing and troubleshooting hardware & software.
  • Provide quality customer service while expressing customer empathy and demonstrating the ability to effectively troubleshoot & resolve advanced software, server, & network technical inquiries.
  • Work autonomously with direct client interaction for solving client challenges and proposing solutions, interfacing with the software development team when necessary to provide a resolution.
  • Track and manage client action items, ensuring clients are kept up to date on status.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors in Information Systems, Computer Engineering Technology or related field with related experience in IT, Software, and/or Network/Database Support and Administration Experience
  • Certifications (MCSE, CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.) desired
  • 2-6 years: Knowledge of virtualization cloud platforms such as AWS, VMware, vSphere, vCenter, vRealize Automation (Aria), vSAN, vMotion, and DRS. Excellent interpersonal skills & ability to work well individually and as a member of a technical project team is a must
  • 2-6 years: Experience with Help Desk Support , network, software system, and/or database administration & support. Support of Enterprise Level Client Server Architecture software at the Tier 2 or Tier 3 level or related. Experience with written documentation and reporting required
  • 2-6 years: Experience with Windows server operating systems, IIS, Microsoft SQL & Oracle database software to include MS Failover Clustering, SQL's clustering featuring availability Groups & Oracle Fail Safe. Experience with or an interest in Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required
