Casework Intern- Samaratin Ministry of Greater Washington

As a key member of Samaritan's Next Step program, provide non-residential casework to existing program participants, recruit new participants through community connections, track and facilitate participants’ progress on goals, and collaborate with volunteers to provide the best possible experience for our participants when they walk through our doors. Our participants are neighbors on the fringes of poverty who are ready to embrace hope, set goals, and achieve them. This position is for someone looking to be by their side along the way.

Assist with and conduct program intakes and casework sessions, in person and/or virtually.
Assist participants in identifying larger goals and ‘Next Steps,’ smaller goal-related achievable tasks: resume updates, online job applications, applying for benefits, advocacy for better housing, improved health, and education (GED/ESL). 
Provide participants with essentials like food, toiletries, work clothing, and some access to cash assistance. 
Create and update participant records in Salesforce database to keep track of Participant interactions.
Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with local service providers and potential referral sources. 
Serve as temp employee in a variety of positions across our sites, as needed.
