Upper School History Teacher

Ranney School seeks an additional Upper School History teacher for the 2024 - 2025 School Year. In addition to electives on themes chosen by the faculty, our department offers a required sequence from World History in Grade 9 to United States History in Grade 10 and to either Democracy in Action (a civics course based on case studies from the Harvard Business School) or AP United States Government and Politics in Grade 11. 

Candidates will ideally have an advanced degree in history, history education, or a related field and experience teaching high school.

Primary​ ​Job​ ​Responsibilities:

  • Teach five sections of Upper School history
  • Facilitate in the Upper School’s “Maymester” program, an experiential education program that takes place over the last two weeks of the school year.
  • In addition to a full-time schedule, faculty mentor students in advisory and co-curricular activities, participate in division and department meetings, and serve in various supervisory roles. 
  • Developing strong relationships with students and colleagues is critical for one’s success at Ranney and for the school’s successful accomplishment of its mission to “know and value every child.”
