Food Initiatives Program Coordinator- Augsburg University

The Food Initiatives Program Coordinator will build capacity for Augsburg’s food access efforts focused on student food insecurity, and help to ensure its sustainability in the future. They will develop and strengthen the infrastructure that supports the Campus Cupboard (Augsburg’s on-campus food pantry) and Share Shop (on-campus free store with clothes, books, furniture, etc) through expanded partnerships with food and supply organizations and create systems to ensure that low-income students know about and have access to the Cupboard and Share Shop. Additionally, they will research to better evaluate the impact of the Campus Cupboard and Share Shop and to inform fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability.

-Manage the Campus Cupboard and Share Shop including daily/weekly management, ordering, reporting, and accepting delivery of food from donors/vendors. Help train, manage, and supervise student workers and interns.
-Coordinate promotion of and access to SNAP benefits for Augsburg students. This includes being the main contact for students and staff and maintaining communication with our partner, Second Harvest Heartland.
-As the Campus Cupboard and Share Shop changes, adapt and document new procedures for meeting undergraduate/graduate student and staff/faculty needs, specifically concerning ordering and managing food in the Cupboard, including updating guidelines and policies for the distribution of food.
-Develop and strengthen relationships with the satellite locations including the Center for Wellness and Counseling, Strommen Center, and others by developing models for sustainability of food stocking, cleaning, etc.
-Connect with professors to speak at classes, create informational materials such as posters and electronic resource guides, and connect with student organizations to distribute these materials.
-Work with external partnerships (i.e. Second Harvest Heartland, The Food Group, and Loaves and Fishes) and campus partners to seek new funding sources.
