NAPAWF is seeking a community organizer in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. The organizer is great at building relationships with existing and new people in the community to engage them in the organization as NAPAWF members and leaders. The organizer is committed to building power to create social, political and economic change for AAPI women and girls.  As an organizer you love working with and talking to people and enjoy engaging others to be active within the Florida NAPAWF community, and to help people grow their leadership skills. You also are well-versed and responsible for campaign planning and executing unique and dynamic organizing campaigns. You can handle multiple projects at a time, and are committed to getting results. The Florida Organizer will ensure NAPAWF’s unique intersectional perspective is brought to the forefront of reproductive justice and voter engagement work in Florida. This position reports directly to the Florida Organizing Manager. 

 POSITION DUTIES

The Florida Organizer will have the following core functions and day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Recruit and engage community members to become members of NAPAWF’s Florida Chapter in order to grow the base through outreach, conducting one-on-one, and other chapter and program activities.
  • Identify, plan, and run local and state campaigns centered on building power for those who identify as AAPI women and girls in Florida. This includes leading and integrating civic and voter engagement efforts into campaign priorities. Support NAPAWF national campaigns and identify local engagement opportunities for members and partners to engage.
  • Develop individual work and outreach plans to support campaigns.
  • Develop leadership of local chapter members to be leaders in NAPAWF’s local campaigns, the reproductive justice movement, and in the AAPI community in Florida.
  • Develop and facilitate impactful training materials and workshops for our Florida base and community members.
  • Recruit members, leaders, and participants to NAPAWF’s leadership development programs.
  • Schedule and lead chapter meetings, plan and execute chapter and engagement activities and to engage members on a consistent basis.
  • Building relationships with community members and a broad array of nonprofit, local government, and religious organizations to advance NAPAWF campaigns and base building efforts.
  • Track and input data in the VAN and EveryAction databases regularly to track ongoing base building and campaign progress towards goals.
  • Coordinate the Florida Chapter’s social media and digital platforms to organize online.
  • Performing duties, as necessary, as a member of the NAPAWF team.

QUALIFICATIONS

We're seeking candidates who excel in relationship-building, are result-oriented, and have strong project management skills. You should have: 

  • At least 1 year of professional community, issue electoral organizing, union, and/or mobilization campaign experience. 
  • A strong commitment to the issues of AAPI and/or immigrant women and girls, health, social justice and human rights. 
  • Ability to work with a team and independently.
  • Self-motivation to achieve work plan and campaign goals.
  • A willingness to seek feedback, learn, and adapt.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem solving, personal planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to accurately record campaign and base building data, track and effectively move turf.
  • Proven track record with strong action-based programs and events and seasoned in successfully managing multiple tasks to completion with competing deadlines.
  • Fluency in a second language is also highly desirable (Asian / Pacific Islander language (i.e. Vietnamese, Mandarin, Korean, Hindi, Urdu, Tagalog, etc language preferred).
  • Basic computer literacy in Windows-based computer programs in order to perform necessary campaign data management and administrative work.
  • Experience with Google Suite (documents, forms, chat), and Zoom. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel. 
  • A valid driver’s license, use of a car for work, and automobile insurance are mandatory conditions of employment in this role.
