Position Summary

Results-driven professional is dedicated to constant learning and training. We are looking for an experienced Polymer or Chemical Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and completing projects in extrusion manufacturing utilizing six sigma/lean/DMAIC or like methodologies. The ideal candidate would have experience working with manufacturing equipment and processes to optimize production and increase capacity. Must have excellent equipment acumen, with the ability to be creative and troubleshoot when necessary. Technical aptitude, people-centric, and ability to help lead the PTFE and melt extrusion division to excellence.

 

Principal Responsibilities

●    Oversees powder/melt extrusion operations and gets actively involved in process troubleshooting.
●    Develop and implement new tooling, process improvements, new product process development, and cost/value improvement projects. 
●    Plan and coordinate the selection, procurement, installation, start-up, and qualification of new capital equipment, tooling, and fixtures for medical device manufacturing IQ/OQ/PQ. 
●    Perform cost improvement projects and quality improvement projects to support manufacturing goals that positively impact and reduce COGS. 
●    Implement and modify manufacturing task documents in coordination with process improvements and new equipment installations.
●    Develop and execute project plans in a fast-paced environment.
 

Education / Experience Requirements

●    Bachelor's Degree in Polymer/Plastics Engineering or equivalent field required.
●    1-3 years of extrusion experience and troubleshooting required.
●    Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks is preferred.
●    Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., FDA, ISO) is desirable.
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

●    Strong knowledge and background in polymer extrusion, especially within the medical tubing industry.
●    Capability to operate single and twin-screw extruders and conduct process optimization.
●    Utilize technical knowledge of polymeric materials and their processability to develop root-cause analyses and improvement plans.
●    Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.
●    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with data analysis tools like Minitab.
●    Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
●    Highly detail-oriented and capable of multitasking.
