We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual for a summer intern position that will provide an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative Biopharmaceutical environment. The candidate will gain hands-on lab experience in purification process development for antisense oligonucleotides (ASO).
Position Description
As an intern you will execute small scale chromatography experiments designed specifically to expand our understanding of Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography fundamentals. The ideal candidate will have some lab experience handling either oligonucleotides or proteins and will learn column chromatography that is commonly used to purify ASOs. In addition, you will learn rp-HPLC, UV-Vis, and mass spectrometry analytical techniques to support their studies.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in oligonucleotide purification development discussions
Operate AKTA Avant chromatography purification systems
Assist in experimental design and troubleshooting
Run in-house analytical testing including rp-HPLC, mass spectrometry, and product concentration analysis
Organize, analyze, document, and present their experimental findings to the ASO department
Qualifications:
Some purification and/or analytical lab experience, preferably some independent work beyond lab classes
Candidate should be able to work independently and be a team collaborator
Good communication and documentation skills
To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
Education
A BS or MS degree in chemical engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field is required.
