Summer Intern Scientist, Material Characterization/Pre-Formulation

The Summer Intern will report directly to the Principal Scientist, Research and Scientific Innovation and will be responsible for assisting with Pre-formulation and material characterization activities.

 

 This position is located at our Watertown, MA site and will begin on Monday, June 3rd and end on Friday, August 9th.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities and projects to be completed include the following:

  • Pre-formulation and material characterization activities including physicochemical, analytical and thermal characterization.
  • Proficient/motivated to learn characterizing techniques such as including High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), Particle Size Distribution (PSD), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
  • Be part of the team designing experiments, execution, and analysis
  • Summarize data, write reports, and present in front of other team members

 

Qualifications

Primary skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Passionate about drug delivery, biomaterials or biotechnology
  • Comfortable working in formulation/wet lab environment
  • Have completed research or coursework in chemistry, materials science or polymers
  • Background in organic chemistry, Self-motivated and proactive in learning, demonstration of agile mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of safe working practices in a laboratory

 

Level of Education Required:

 

  • Must be a student in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college/university
  • Undergraduate student with a minimum of Rising <Sophomore/Junior/Senior>

 

Preferred Field(s) of Study: Majoring in chemistry, Bio/Biomedical Engineering, biochemistry, material science, or related degree
