Summer Intern Metrology, Quality Control

This person will report directly to the EyePoint Metrologist.  The intern will be assisting the metrologist in all calibration and maintenance activities at both the Watertown and Northbridge cites.  These activities will involve the following tasks:

  • Monthly notification regarding Calibration and Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities.
  • Collection of equipment to be sent out for calibration.
  • Documenting Calibration and PM activities in the eQMS.

 

This position is located at our Watertown, MA site and will begin on Monday, June 3rd and end on Friday, August 9th. 

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities and projects to be completed include the following:

Individual responsibilities

  • Assisting the Metrologist in scheduling vendors for calibration and maintenance activities.
  • Shadowing vendors to ensure calibration is performed correctly.
  • Assisting the Metrologist in ensuring systems are properly labelled upon completion of calibration and PM activities
  • Assure and apply current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) including good documentation practice (GDP) throughout laboratory operations.

 

Intern Project:

Assisting the Metrologist in building the Calibration/PM database in Northbridge.  This will encompass the following activities but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the creation and completion of new equipment forms in the eQMS.
  • Assisting in the review of change control tasks associated with the new equipment forms.
  • Ensuring that the Equipment and Instruments in the Northbridge cite are driven to completion.

Qualifications

Primary skills and knowledge required include, but are not limited to the following:

  • The candidate must have competency using Microsoft 360 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • The candidate must have good writing skills.
  • The candidate must be able to verbally communicate across cross functional groups.
  • The candidate must be able to move materials that are less than equal to or less than 40 lbs.
  • The candidate must be able to work semi-independently.
  • The candidate must have a “safety first” mentality.
  • The candidate must know how to work in a team environment that is fast paced.

Level of Education Required:

  • Must be a student in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college/university
  • Undergraduate student with a minimum of Rising <Sophomore/Junior/Senior>

 

Preferred Field(s) of Study: Engineering or Science discipline
