PLUS Communications is based in Arlington, Virginia. PLUS Communications leads award-winning campaigns integrating public affairs, corporate communications, digital, advertising and media buying. PLUS means more!

Are you looking for:

  • A kickstart to a career in public affairs?
  • A position that will allow you to push the boundaries?
  • A chance to let your imagination loose and your creativity flourish?
  • A summer of a lifetime working with and learning from some talented, smart and savvy professionals?
  • An opportunity for a full-time position at an award-winning public affairs firm among some of the best in the business?

Then look no further. PLUS Communications is looking for fellows to join our Public Affairs department who are ready to hustle in a fast-paced environment and challenge themselves every day this summer as critical, valued members of our team. This program will begin on June 3 rd and end on August 15 th . The ideal candidates are college students and recent graduates who will support our Public Affairs client teams with communications assistance. Specifically, fellows will be assigned to various accounts that will allow them to gain hands-on experience on a variety of different issue areas. At PLUS, you’ll get to try a little bit of everything!

Fellows should be motivated, creative, self-starting individuals with a demonstrated interest in public affairs and availability to work 30 hours a week, in person at our Arlington office this summer.

We refer to our class as “fellows” instead of “interns” for a reason – they are given responsibilities equivalent to full-time staff and are treated as such with the potential to stay in the PLUS pipeline and grow into full-time employees, which is a unique opportunity other internships and fellowships do not offer. We want you to be able to envision a bright future in the industry with our help.

Fellows at PLUS sit in on the action of their assigned accounts, providing them with opportunities to experience the ins and outs of public affairs work.

This is a paid position, and you will receive an hourly wage of $15.

What does a day in the life of a PLUS Public Affairs Fellow look like? Let us show you:

  • Writing and distributing communications materials including press releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, newsletter content, statements and other press materials – at PLUS, you’re in the writer’s seat!
  • Participating in meetings with high-level executives – we want to hear what all of our team members have to say.
  • Assisting in basic research requests – the backbone of any project begins with solid research.
  • Monitoring media and hearings to report coverage for our clients – the media drives our days.
  • Providing operational support and administrative duties – this is where organizational skills come to play.
  • Attending lunch and learns led by skilled communicators at PLUS – the chance to pick the brains of leaders in the field.
