Research Technician (1682)

The Sequencing Core at New England Biolabs Inc. (NEB) is seeking a Research Technician to support Next-Generation sequencing (NGS) and DNA analysis operations of the group.  As a member of the Sequencing Core, this individual will interface with scientists across the Research, Product Development, and Production departments to deliver high-quality data.

 

Primary Responsibilities:    

Perform NGS sample preparation.

Operate NGS instruments including Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, and Ion Torrent sequencers.

Perform Sanger sequencing and fragment analysis using ABD 3730xl DNA analyzers.

Analyze capillary electrophoresis data, troubleshoot issues, and transfer results.

Ensure proper equipment maintenance.

Restock and order reagents and supplies when necessary.

Required Qualifications:

B.A or B.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology or related field.

Basic molecular biology skills with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to quickly learn and master new techniques and instrumentation.

Comfortable working both independently and in a team-oriented setting.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.

Basic knowledge of Mac and PC based systems with the ability to learn instrument-specific software.

Strong work ethic, emphasizing both efficiency and quality of work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with DNA analytical instrumentation.

Experience operating NGS instruments (Illumina and Oxford Nanopore).
