Intern, Broadband and Spectrum (Paid)

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a Washington, DC-based think tank, is seeking a summer intern to conduct research on broadband and spectrum policy issues in the summer of 2024, starting on or after May 1, 2024. The ideal applicant should have a demonstrated interest in the intersection of technological innovation and connectivity policy, as well as exceptional research, writing, and organizational abilities. Students with a strong interest in communications law and policy issues are especially encouraged to apply. The position is available on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours a week. Ideally, the applicant will be located in Washington, DC.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on active policy issues including broadband deployment, spectrum allocation, digital inclusion, and satellite policy.
  • Identify and track regulatory and legislative developments on national and state levels.
  • Write or help draft policy reports, regulatory comments, or op-eds.
  • Provide research support (e.g., collecting and organizing data, writing literature reviews, summarizing comments, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate or graduate student in law, public policy, economics, political science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in broadband, telecommunications, innovation, or public policy.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent and detail-oriented research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Highly proactive and flexible, with an ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
