LPS Elementary Instructional Technology Teacher- Itinerant

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a valid license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Instructional Technology (all levels), Instructional Technology Specialist, and/or Library Media Specialist and/or 

Digital Literacy/Computer Science, PreK-6

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • SEI Endorsement 
  • Strong district lens regarding EL, curriculum, and equity 
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations 
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders 
  • Experience in an urban district/setting preferred   
  • Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice

JOB DETAILS
The Instructional Technology position is multifaceted and includes teaching as well as coteaching.  This teacher will model creative problem solving, critical thinking and flexibility necessary for success in our diverse and changing world.  This position includes using the Microsoft Office 365 Suite to teach computer, technology, keyboarding and coding skills to students in grades PK-5.  The teacher will collaborate with teachers and building leaders to effectively integrate technology in instruction across all content areas as well as developing best practices in technology usage.  In conjunction with the Curriculum Office, this teacher will develop and implement staff development in the area of technology.  LPS is committed to using innovation instruction and integrated technology to equip our students and teachers with the skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century.

 

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Remain up-to-date regarding curriculum content and advancements in technology.
  • Develop and implement technology lessons at each grade level (PK – 5).
  • Plan collaboratively to implement innovative technology lessons across content areas to be cotaught.
  • Develop and implement professional development.
  • Maintain technology inventory in classrooms, computer labs, and mobile labs.
  • Ensure computer equipment in the building is functioning properly or request support from HelpDesk in a timely manner.
  • Be part of the team working with educators and other specialists in the area of technology integration.
  • Encourage creativity in students.
  • Support teachers in gaining independence in troubleshooting technology problems.
  • Identify varying teaching methods for students who learn differently.
  • Other duties as assigned
