Early Academic Outreach Program

UCLA's Early Academic Outreach Program, EAOP , is one of the state's most successful pre-collegiate student academic development programs. UCLA's EAOP works with over 19,000 students in middle school and high school each year. UCLA EAOP is honored to work alongside the College Advising Corps, focusing on the path to higher education with its very own branch.

DCAC Program Information

UCLA’s Destination College Advising Corps (DCAC) has launched with a vision of making college a viable option for all students and a goal of increasing the college-going rates of our partner schools. DCAC works in collaboration with partner schools and college access programs to support, assist, and supplement college access and preparation efforts for all students using research-based best practices. DCAC provides comprehensive college awareness, mentorship, resources, preparation, advising, and information through the efforts of a dedicated College Adviser Fellow.

DCAC College Adviser Fellow Description

  • DCAC College Adviser Fellows (under the advisement and purview of a Regional Manager, a full-time employee of UCLA and recognized expert in-college access programming) will learn the theory and receive coaching and field experiences in college access preparation, public education, and youth service.
  • DCAC College Adviser Fellows will be placed at a partner high school in Los Angeles Unified or Inglewood Unified.
  • DCAC College Adviser Fellows will participate in local and national research and data collection as specified by state and federal agreements, including the provision of intensive program activities by using evidence-based best practices of highly successful college access programs and strategies that build college going culture through one-to-one, small group, classroom, and whole school efforts.
  • DCAC College Adviser Fellows will be responsible for data collection, input, tracking and analysis of student and whole-school services. DCAC is a student centered and data driven organization. Our program is committed to providing high quality services to students and improving outcomes for college access through an ongoing cycle of continuous improvement. Our approach requires data collection, analysis, and decision-making based on progress towards goals. College Adviser Fellows must be open to a process of formative assessment to learn what works and does not work within the context of their schools. As such, regular data collection, entry and analysis is an essential function of each DCAC College Adviser Fellow.
  • Regional Managers will oversee day-to-day program efforts and activities and provide College Adviser Fellows with training and guidance in meeting requirements of the program and professional development to promote leadership, careers in public service, research, and graduate school.
  • With guidance from their Regional Managers, College Adviser Fellows will be expected to implement the following best practice program efforts and activities: recruit and mentor a cohort of high school students; support partner school sites’ school-wide college preparation; and provide cohort and non-cohort students with college access and preparation assistance, such as academic advising, college admissions applications, financial aid applications, scholarship applications and SAT/ACT preparation/registration.
  • DCAC College Adviser Fellows’ plans and goals may differ from site to site and may include activities beyond those indicated below in order to meet partner and regional needs or the needs of the national research initiative. Specific College Adviser Fellow and goals will be determined together with individual Regional Managers to meet specific partner and school site needs.
