NASS Western Field Ops Statistician Student Intern (Hybrid - Athens, GA) Summer 2024

USDA Agricultural Research Service is currently recruiting for an Statistician Student Intern at USDA - National Agricultural Statistics Service - Georgia in Athens, GA or Summer 2024. Responsibilities include assisting in making clerical edits of questionnaires differing with each assignment as to subject matter, form, terminology, data units, etc., requiring some subject matter knowledge in order to detect and connect inaccuracies and inconsistencies. Editing involves examining questionnaires for reasonableness and accuracy, noting and correcting improperly reported data to predetermined units, and examining for and/or connecting inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Summarizes recurring data problems and develops recommendations for handling such as revising specifications or procedures.

Assists in preparing moderately difficult worksheets for summarization of survey data. Worksheets may be summarized using a calculator or computer spreadsheets and databases. Assists in preparing and maintaining computerized charts and graphs for use by statisticians or analysts in analyzing data, preparing estimates and forecasts, and/or for inclusion in report. Assumes the accuracy of estimate worksheets and summary data computations submitted to the statisticians and/or analysts. Assists in the telephone enumeration of sampled questionnaires to verify information received. Assists in preparing questionnaires, reports, and publications under the direction of the superiors. Performs other related duties to assure the smooth operation of the office as required.
