ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:

 

We offer paid, full-time summer internships for many majors, with fulfilling work and opportunities to grow. To help launch your career, we provide dedicated staff mentors. You’ll also learn from senior leaders and industry experts. As part of the Federal Reserve System, you’ll be connected to a professional network that spans the nation. You will begin in early June and will be based in the Dallas office.

ABOUT YOUR TEAM:

 

The Research department undertakes research and analysis to add to the frontier of knowledge and to inform monetary policy. The department produces and publishes relevant, timely and innovative research and prepares briefings to support the Bank President’s participation at FOMC meetings.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Assist economist(s) in one of Research’s groups (macroeconomics, international, regional, energy, or banking and finance) in their academic research and/or policy analysis.
  • The specific tasks will do will depend on the project(s) you work on, and will include some or all of:
    • Assisting in compiling data/background research
    • Providing support by locating, obtaining and compiling statistical data, constructing files, producing charts and other graphics, and performing basic statistical and econometric analysis under the direction of research analysts or economists for assigned projects
    • Collecting and analyzing data on economic conditions for use in studies and reports to management
    • Developing basic understanding of economic variables and econometrics techniques
    • Sharing knowledge and work with other research assistants and interns on a variety of economic issues and assignments
    • May contribute with ideas and suggestions for project improvement
    • Recommending or suggesting solutions to new and complex problems and help develop innovative strategies
    • Opportunity to job shadow research analysts and economists and learn about career opportunities in economics

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Completed your Sophomore year with some completed or planned coursework in economics, statistics, econometrics, math, or computer science and with a GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • A copy of your current transcripts is required to be considered for this position
  • Basic knowledge of programming in a package such as STATA, R or Python is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of economic variables and their interrelationships

WORK HOURS:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/ week). Some additional hours may be required
