AmeriCorps Camp Support Member

Are you ready to spend your summer making a difference by helping children and families affected by epilepsy? Consider joining our team as an AmeriCorps Camp Support member with Epilepsy Foundation New England (EFNE).

Camp Support Members serve 300 hours between June 3 and August 16, 2024. We're currently seeking candidates to connect with individuals and families living with epilepsy to enhance the EFNE camper experience by providing multidimensional support before, during, and after EFNE Camps.

Applicants must be available to live on the camp campus in Groton MA July 14-July 21; attend our Sailing Camp in Newport August 5-9, and attend our Horseback Riding camp in Rehoboth MA August 12-16. Transportation and/or accommodations for the latter camps are TBD. In addition, our team will plan two surfing camps and develop additional meet-up opportunities during the summer, such as beach or picnic days. Apart from in-person camp attendance and meet-ups, Camp Support members will work remotely almost all of the remaining hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete camp support team trainings
  • Assist in camp preparation including review of campers’ needs
  • Maintain contact with campers before camp
  • Coordinate pre-camp community meet-ups
  • Assist in camp operations, supporting children and families as camp counselor
  • Administer post-camp surveys & reviews
  • Coordinate and assist in post-camp community meet-ups
  • Assist in transition of camper to EFNE for ongoing support

Requirements:

  • Attend all camp dates
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 17 years of age or older
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Strong communication skills
  • Passion for working with diverse populations
  • Motivation and aptitude for outreach and networking
  • Interest in nonprofit organizations and their development
  • Organizational and communication skills
  • Proven project management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility, patience, and a good sense of humor
