Job Description: Program Coordinator 

POSITION SUMMARY: 

As Program Coordinator, you will be working with children between the ages of 7 and 17. Supervising staff ages 16+. The population that we serve comes from a diverse set of socio-economic backgrounds. Bethel Horizons strives to create a positive atmosphere for all people. You will be responsible for coordinating one of the three camps that take place weekly. This includes supervising staff, coordinating meals, working with staff and campers on behavioral needs, schedules, and various other needs. Room and board are provided for the entire summer.

AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY 

The Program Coordinator is accountable to the Program Director for the quality of work produced.

HOURS: 

PART-TIME/FULL-TIME: Seasonal Full-Time: On-Site from 2pm Sunday - 12pm Friday for each week hired. 48 Hours time-off every weekend. On-Site hours fluctuate with demands of the program.
LOCATION: Bethel Horizons Camp and Retreat Center.

COMPENSATION: $350.00 per week. Commensurate with education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Minimum 18 years of age
  2. Suggested one year of college education or the equivalent in working life experience.
  3. The ability to meet each camper where that camper is at with the four harmonies of Bethel Horizons: God, Self, Others and Nature.
  4. Liking for children, ability to understand the needs of the campers, and the good judgment to place the needs of the campers and the camp ahead of personal desires.
  5. Interest in contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the camp.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Direct supervision of summer staff
  2. Ensuring staff are compliant with Bethel Horizons policies and procedures, and the overall goals of each weekly program.
  3. General planning and coordinating of camp programs.
  4. Assigning daily camp tasks and ensuring the completion of those tasks.
  5. Interpret safety and health regulations.
  6. Guide the individual camper in participation in individual, total program unit and all-camp activities.
  7. Assist with program activities and other activities in the program unit, working closely with the Senior Counselors.
  8. Assist with all camp program activities and other camp wide activities as assigned.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
