LOCATION/HOURS
This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our San Francisco office. It is expected that some duties will be performed on-site at least 3-days a week, and some remotely including some Saturdays, with the understanding that government and public health guidelines will help determine the extent to which it is safe to carry out in-person and onsite activities.
All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at Three Embarcadero Center Promenade Level, Suite P-1 San Francisco, CA 94111 upon hire.

ABOUT SEO SCHOLARS
SEO Scholars provides motivated, low income public high school students with a rigorous out-of-school supplemental academic curriculum, college guidance and the leadership development necessary to gain admission to, and succeed at, competitive colleges and universities. SEO Scholars San Francisco (SF Scholars) is the first expansion region for this program and aims to replicate for Bay Area students the stellar outcomes that the program has delivered in New York City. POSITION OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Manager, Recruitment plays an essential role in introducing potential Scholars and families as well as partners to SF Scholars. In addition to managing a team of 2 Recruitment Managers, the Senior Manager of Recruitment, leads the overall recruitment strategy during a time of exciting growth for SF Scholars as the incoming cohort size recently grew from 60 to 120, with a large increase in admits from East Bay cities. An ideal candidate will enjoy and excel at public speaking, marketing, partnership development, and project management. This role reports to the SF Scholars’ Executive Director and has the following key responsibilities:
Recruitment Strategy
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to set and refine the recruitment strategy each year, including establishing benchmarks for expansion, new targeted geographies, and new pipelines
- Develop a robust recruitment calendar in partnership with recruitment managers
- Maintain the recruitment website providing updates to ensure prospective Scholars and their families understand the program and are encouraged to apply
- Oversee the annual application including refinements based on feedback from prior recruitment cycles
- Lead team to participate in Scholar selection process including interviews, application reading, and deliberations to ensure a strong and diverse cohort annually
- Oversee the tracking, management, and analysis of recruitment data to ensure strategies remain data driven and responsive to changing landscapes
Partnership Development
- Conduct regular outreach to and meetings with recruitment partner prospects, sharing the benefits of the program and encouraging their support with Scholar cultivation
- Maintain existing relationships with longtime partners, ensuring SF Scholars remains at the top of their college access lists
- Attend events and conferences to stay abreast of the education landscape in the Bay Area and connect with prospective recruitment partners
- Host events and deliver presentations about SF Scholars at current and potential partner sites
Staff Management and Development
- Inspire, coach, develop, and support a team Recruitment Managers through weekly department meetings, regular check-ins, observations, and feedback.
- Create and nurture a culture that encourages intellectual curiosity and an inclusive, close-knit and supportive community
- Set meaningful, outcomes-oriented department and individual performance goals that meet overall program goals; conduct mid and end-of-year performance reviews
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in education, business, marketing, nonprofit management or similar field
- Experience working in community outreach, student recruitment, or college admissions. A familiarity and/or experience with public education and youth communities in San Francisco a plus
- One year of people management experience; volunteer and intern management experience will be considered
- Strong public speaking skills and ability to connect with and inspire a variety of audiences including students, parents, educators, and nonprofit leaders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail
- Exemplary written, and verbal communications skills; must be able to create compelling narratives and engage with diverse and multicultural communities through different mediums, including in-person and through messaging platforms, video chats/conferences, and phone calls
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and high level of professionalism
- Exceptional leadership skills and aptitude in building strong culture and community
- Highly adaptable and solutions-oriented with an ability to solve complex problems
- Must be experienced and technically proficient in MS Office, Google suite, and standard workplace applications like Zoom and Box. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of databases like Salesforce preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English language skills are highly desired
