Hudson Valley Office of U.S. Senator Gillibrand Summer 2024 Internship Program

Each summer, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Hudson Valley Office hosts highly motivated, dedicated, and civic-minded student interns. Our program is designed to cultivate and mentor young leaders and develop them for future public service opportunities. By working directly with the Senator’s staff, students are provided a unique perspective to observe and engage with government work.

The Hudson Valley Office’s Summer 2024 Internship Program application is now open through Senator Gillibrand’s Regional Summer Internship Application Portal. Applications to intern at the Hudson Valley Office must be completed and submitted by Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 12:00PM. We will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis. In order to be considered, applicants must submit a current resume, a cover letter, a writing sample, a letter of recommendation, and an unofficial transcript. Since students work directly with U.S. Senate staff, we request a minimum time commitment of 30 hours per week. Our office is open to full-time and year-long opportunities for qualified applicants.

Applicants must be self-motivated team players who are able to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality, have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and be proficient working on the computer. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, office management, outreach, research, logistical support for events, gathering press clippings, answering phones, and other administrative duties. This internship will be based in New York, NY.

Internship FAQs are available at https://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/help/internships/. Interns may apply for college/university credit or a stipend through a relevant department or career development office. Our office is happy to accommodate institutional requirements. Please note that our office offers unpaid educational internships. However, a $300 stipend (intended to defray the cost of commuting) is available to qualified interns.
