Job Description

 

AECOM is seeking an Entry Level Bridge Engineer for our Rocky Hill, CT office.  In this role, the ideal candidate will work under the guidance of experienced bridge engineers performing analysis and design of bridge and other transportation related structures.  This position is an opportunity to work within a well-established and very successful group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges, and career development opportunities.

This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation and checking of design calculations for bridges and other transportation related structures.
  • Load rating of existing bridges.
  • Preparation of construction drawings which include – plans, structural sections, and details.
  • Preparation of quantity calculations.
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates.
  • Preparation of reports and technical specifications.
  • Shop drawing review and design services during construction.
  • Visual survey and structural observations of existing building structures for rehabilitations/repair projects.
  • Coordination with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
  • Collection and analysis of data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenBridge, and similar computer programs.
  • The preferred candidate would be detail oriented; have strong skills in structural analysis, steel, and concrete design; and have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and a willing desire to learn.

  • Offered rate of compensation (Connecticut locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $63,283.93- $87,015.40.
